Memory Care is so unique, the unconditional love that residents have are a daily reminder that we are all human and deserve to be cared for
I started in healthcare at the age of 17 receiving my CNA in Missouri, I knew then long-term care is where my heart belonged. I have been in some form of healthcare since I was 17 but I have been in long term care for 6 years. I never get enough of the love residents have to give. The smiles and laughs, we as caregivers get to hear all day every day, fills your heart like nothing in the world. Memory Care is so unique, the unconditional love that residents have are a daily reminder that we are all human and deserve to be cared for and loved through even the most difficult times in our lives. I read something once that has stuck with me in this line of work, a young caretaker asked a husband why he visits his wife everyday when she doesn’t even remember him, he simply said “Because I remember her”. Working in long term care has reminded me how precious life is and not to take the little things for granted. In my time away from the facility I enjoy working on puzzles, reading, walking, hiking, and LOVE playing pickleball with friends and family.

Something I enjoy most about working with residents is being able to make a direct impact on them
I have worked in senior living healthcare for 20 years. I began working in healthcare as a job offer from a friend but as time went on healthcare became something I enjoyed and loved. Something I enjoy most about working with residents is being able to make a direct impact on them. Seeing them smile, regain confidence, and feel valued provides an immediate sense of purpose for me. My favorite part of my community are the residents and awesome staff we have caring for them. Having deep empathy and emotional intelligence is a special skill that I have as a caregiver. I ma a very caring, loving, and understanding person who goes out of their way to make others happy and be supportive of others needs.

I focus on engaging residents in activities that benefit their abilities and allow them to participate at their own level
As a Life Enrichment Coordinator, I enjoy enhancing the daily lives of residents with different levels of functioning. With compassion and love for the elderly, I focus on engaging residents in activities that benefit their abilities and allow them to participate at their own level. I love spending time with my daughters and going shopping.
